MENTAL HEALTH INFO-About project

Post by SEE-MH-INFO on Fri Jul 04, 2008 6:39 am

Understanding, following or creating a functional strategy in the area
of Mental Health is very complex and difficult process considering the
sensitive nature of it (involves the most basic human rights). What
makes this process even more complex is the international division in
to national, regional and global strategies. APR follows the guidance
of WAPR and WHO on international level, however in the region of
South-Eastern Europe and in Macedonia it has to create specific
strategy workable only for this area.

 Strategy and action steeps for mental health stakeholders in Macedonia
 Strategy and action steeps for mental health stakeholders in region
of SEE

This strategies and action steps will be a vice versa promotion of
WAPR Intentional in Macedonia and SEE.

Strategy and actions steps in the region of SEE

The countries from this region had a stressful period in the past 16
years, from different regional war conflicts, refuge crises, political
and economical instability and long period of society transition.
Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina are all
countries from SEE with limited chances to become EU member states.
Reforms in Mental health need to continue in future in this political,
economical and social environment. Exchanging information about Mental
Health activities can be strong motivational and promotional tool for
Mental Health stakeholders in the region of SEE.
Creating information networks by media is the first step to be made.
This can also be a protective mechanism for prevention of pressure and
undermining of the work done by formal (NGOs) and informal
user/consumer groups in the civil sector by the governmental
institutions. The media is the greatest balancer of social dynamics as
social scientists have proven. Therefore creating a media that will
be the voice of all stakeholders in the region and information sharing
resource will be essential for continuing region's recovery from
current condition.

ABOUT THE WEB PAGE

This web site will provide information to all actors in the area of
Mental Health in Macedonia
(policy makers,
users,
professionals etc.)
with photos and reportage from various local or international events
(for example openings of Centers for Mental Health in SEE); info on
relevant matters in the media (such as the reforms process); manuals
and other helpful documents and tools published by experts and
institutions (i.e. WHO); and essential info about NGO APR (WAPR Desk).
The web site has regular updated and maintained content, ongoing
publishing of a Newsletter and the special Ideas Exchange Media for the
global experts,
users and
activists in the area of Mental Health.

The main goal is to give a starting point by offering information to
the users of psychiatric services on how to communicate with the
involved actors in the area for Mental Health and in addition to get
the institutions,
policy makers,
medical staff
and professionals informed how to increase the quality of their
provided services to users by the world standards.
This web site is in ona English language, but with possibility for on
line translation on ITALIAN ,FRENCH,GERMAN, SPANISH. KOREAN . JAPNISE
POTUGISE it is first of its kind in Macedonia or in the region of
South-Eastern Europe for that matter. I
t has been supported and recognized by many international actors in
Mental Health with some of those supporters helping it promote even
more (i.e. the exchange of promotional links and materials with Hamlet
Trust – UK)and WAPR International .

In this media everyone concerned with Mental Health can post their
essays, stories,
ideas, messages,
study works etc. and create an idea exchange community on global level
(thus helping the SEE stakeholders in Mental Health to learn from the
world and the world to learn about them).
The web site will be continuously upgraded as our capacities grow
