MENTAL HEALTH INFO-About project
Understanding, following or creating a functional strategy in the area
of Mental Health is very complex and difficult process considering the
sensitive nature of it (involves the most basic human rights). What
makes this process even more complex is the international division in
to national, regional and global strategies. APR follows the guidance
of WAPR and WHO on international level, however in the region of
South-Eastern Europe and in Macedonia it has to create specific
strategy workable only for this area.

Strategy and actions steps in the region of SEE
The countries from this region had a stressful period in the past 16
years, from different regional war conflicts, refuge crises, political
and economical instability and long period of society transition.
Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina are all
countries from SEE with limited chances to become EU member states.
Reforms in Mental health need to continue in future in this political,
economical and social environment. Exchanging information about Mental
Health activities can be strong motivational and promotional tool for
Mental Health stakeholders in the region of SEE.
Creating information networks by media is the first step to be made.
This can also be a protective mechanism for prevention of pressure and
undermining of the work done by formal (NGOs) and informal
user/consumer groups in the civil sector by the governmental
institutions. The media is the greatest balancer of social dynamics as
social scientists have proven. Therefore creating a media that will
be the voice of all stakeholders in the region and information sharing
resource will be essential for continuing region's recovery from
current condition.
